    Description

Offered for sale is a gorgeous and RARE Depression Glass item:  a footed banana split dish in the Tea Room pattern.  Although I have four (4) of these for sale, I am offering these by the piece.  I purchased these back in the 1980's and I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY FOR SALE SINCE!!!  There is one other one on eBay at this particular moment but - TRUST ME- they are hard-to-find!!  I was so thrilled on the day that I found them - it was August down toward the shore - 1987, I believe.  Anyway, the footed banana split dish is green in color and was manufactured by the Indiana Glass Company from 1926-1931.  These have a very Art Deco look and are quite desirable.  The banana boat top part measures 7 1/2 inches across and the dish stands 3 inches tall.  The condition of each of these dishes is excellent with no chips, no cracks, no damage.  Each of the 3 banana splits does have a bit of roughness at one end of the dish.  Gene Florence, the author of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Depression Glass (16th edition), noted that he once witnessed the opening of an original box of Tea Room and only 12 pieces out of 36 could be considered mint.  The molds on many Indiana Glass pieces of Depression Glass can be rough.  Please see the photos, check my feedback, and ask any questions before making a purchase.  I am offering a Tea Room ice bucket in green in a separate listing.  Thank you for checking my eBay store.
