Soviet WW2 Medal for the Defense of Odessa, high quality REPRODUCTION.
Made in Brass. This very high-quality replica has correct aged appearance with convincing looking "wear", patina, and even what may pass for “mint luster”. It even has an ORIGINAL WW2 suspension device, a brass model with self-locking pin. The ribbon is relatively recent but does show some wear, and may have come off of an original medal. The medallion measures 31.8 mm in width, just a tiny bit smaller than the original, but the discrepancy is practically impossible to notice short of measuring it with micrometer.
Of course, the medal differs from the original in many small details, but high-quality fakes like this one are often sold as originals to unsuspecting beginner collectors.  This medal was acquired in a collection that is at least 10-15 years old! This just goes to show that age, patina or original suspension alone do not guarantee in any way that the medal is real!
