    Description

    For bid is an original November 25, 1939 Caterpillar Tractor Company PUBLICITY photograph showing at least two Caterpillar tractors working on coastal Highway 1 between Jenner & Stewart's Point, Sonoma County, California.  Photo was taken by local California photographer Mike Roberts and shows a tractor pulling other machinery with a GORGEOUS beach scene and the Pacific Ocean in the distance.  Photo was taken from the hillside above where the tractor is pulling the machinery.  The following description is typed on a Caterpillar label on the back:  "State Highway No. 1 between Jenner and Stewarts Pt., Calif. Realignment eliminating 3 bridges.  500,000 yds. excavation. Deepest cut 82' - largest fill 275,000 yds. A fleet of Caterpillar Diesel Tractors and equipment on the job."  This was phot number 31051 of a series showing Caterpillars at work in the 1930's.
