This sauce boat was made in France circa 1890 by the well-known Christofle Company. The tray is fully hallmarked 'Christofle', 'C scale C', '1', '7' and numbered ‘2325251’; the sauce boat itself is also hallmarked and bears 'Metal Blanc' inside a rhomboidal cartouche. It still has the original nut to attach both parts. The wonderful and thick original ‘Old Silver’ finish plating is in excellent condition as well as heavy high quality metalwork. The handles are adorned with leaves. Its superb design makes it really usable. It measures a full 9 5/8” long, 6 ¼” wide, almost 4 ½” to its highest point, it weighs 30.80 oz or 874 grams.
