Handsome fold-out 1952 Amoco road map of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C., printed more than 65 years ago.
The map opens to 18" x 29" and has great detail on old highway alignments, with cartography by Rand McNally.
On the reverse side there are inset plans of Charleston, Roanoke, Wheeling, Wilmington, Richmond, Norfolk-Portsmouth, Baltimore, and metropolitan Washington, D.C.
The map was distributed in 1952 by the American Oil Company to promote its Amoco gasoline and Permalube motor oil, and it is dated by the code number in the lower margin: 2-463617V-12.
The front cover photo shows a uniformed attendant pointing to a road map, with an Amoco gas pump in the background.
There's a list of Amoco products and affiliates on the back cover.
Condition:
The map is in very good condition, bright and clean, with some faint scuffs on the cover and
no
